In March 2022 LANZI obtained the UNI ISO 45001:2018 Certification, which specifies the requirements for a management system for workplace health and safety (WHS) and which provides a guide for its use.
Developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the contribution of experts from over 70 countries around the world, and implemented nationally by the Italian Standardization Body (UNI), the 45001 standard, as known, specifies the requirements for a workplace health and safety (WHS) management system. It also gives guidance on its use, in order to enable organisations to provide safe and healthy workplaces, preventing work-related injuries and illnesses, mitigating all harmful factors or that pose a danger to workers’ physical and/or mental well-being, as well as proactively improving their WHS performance.
The objectives of the UNI ISO 45001 Certification
The ISO 45001 standard has the ultimate goal of helping companies provide a safe and healthy working environment for their employees and all those who visit the workplace. This can be achieved by controlling for factors that could potentially lead to injury, disease and, in extreme situations, even death. Consequently, UNI ISO 45001 deals with mitigating all factors that are harmful or that represent a danger to the physical and/or mental well-being of workers.
UNI ISO 45001 Certification Process
The certification process involves the following steps:
- preliminary audit: assessment of the Organisation’s level of compliance with the requirements;
- certification audit: verification of the compliance of the management system with the requirements; the audit ends with the issue of the certificate if all requirements are met;
- surveillance audit: planned assessment, at least annually, to monitor the maintenance of the management system and continuous improvement;
- renewal audit: assessment carried out at the expiry of the certificate, to confirm the certificate for a further three years.
