Gloves chemical protection

All our gloves for chemical protection are tested and approved according to EN ISO 374:2016 standards.

Many operators have to handle chemicals such as oils, acids, solvents etc. every day. If these substances come into direct contact with the skin, they can cause skin irritation, hypersensitivity and corrosion damage, and in the most serious cases can cause harm to the nervous system and vital organs.

This is why it is essential to be protected and the choice of a chemical protection glove becomes compulsory.

However, selecting the right glove is not a trivial matter, and several aspects need to be considered, such as the chemical family of the element being handled, the permeation time of the substance handled, and the type of contact (prolonged immersion or accidental).

When choosing a chemical protection glove, there needs to be a good ratio between mechanical resistance and dexterity: the actual usage conditions (movements, tears, friction etc.) can considerably reduce the true usage duration.

Chemical protection gloves are available with or without a lining (supported or unsupported): an unsupported glove becomes necessary when additional protection is required (against cutting, heat, cold, etc.) or when the glove needs to be put on and taken off several times throughout the day (operators with multiple roles).

EN ISO 374:2016 Lab Test

According to EN ISO 374 standard, protective gloves against chemical products must be subjected to the following tests:

Penetration

passing of air and/or water through pores, seams, pinholes or other imperfections of the protective glove at a nonmolecular level. A glove is considered an effective barrier against microorganisms when not leaking after the water and air penetration test (EN374-2:2003 method). The EN ISO 374-5:2016 standard introduced a specific test method against viruses.

Permeation

passing of chemicals through the protective glove material at a molecular level for one or more substances.

Degradation

change in the physical proporties of the glove in contact with a chemical substance, following the permeation test. The test results must only be declared on the user’s information sheet.
